The Questors Theatre, Ealing
The Questors Theatre is located in the London Borough of Ealing, west London. It is the home of The Questors, a large amateur theatre company which hosts a season of around twenty productions a year and is a member of the Little Theatre Guild of Great Britain and the International Amateur Theatre Association.
The Questors theatre club was founded in 1929 by a group of 17 amateur performers pursuing an adventurous artistic policy led by one of the founders, Alfred Emmet. It has grown into a vibrant theatre company of around 1,350 members (of whom about 300 are actors and about 200 work backstage and front-of-house, with the remainder supporting the theatre as audience members). The company also runs Questors Academy which provides actor training, a two year acting course and a vibrant youth theatre.[
The current theatre building, which in addition to the main 300 seater Playhouse includes a studio theatre and three large rehearsal rooms, was opened in 1964 by Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother. It replaced the original Questors Theatre which had been converted from an old church and was (and still is) affectionately known as "The Tin Hut".
